5 Tips to Get Bikini Ready

Summer is just around the corner, which means it’s time to get ready for bikini season. When I want to slim down and de-bloat especially right before a trip (ie Maui), there are a few things I like to add into my routine so I’m feeling my best come swim season. I’m definitely not perfect (hence those cocktails in Maui) but I’ve developed some healthy habits that help me feel confident when it comes time to shed those layers… and I’ve learned that confidence is all you need to rock a bikini! So, here are my tips for looking and, more importantly, feeling bikini ready.

  1. Add More Weights & Cardio - Instead of sticking to my usual fitness routine (which is usually low-impact), I like to add in more weights and cardio when I really want to tone or slim down. Weight lifting helps to build muscle which gives you that toned look - plus muscle burns fat (win, win)! I don’t have weights at home so I like to use my own body weight and these bands! I also travel with the, super compact and you can workout anywhere! Or, I’ll try to take Clover for more walks, play with the kids, or do anything active to get my body moving.

  2. Cut Back on Sugars & Carbs - Those sneaky sugars can really add up since they’re hidden in SO many things you wouldn’t expect. So, I try to read labels more and cut back on unhealthy carbs like bread and pasta. You ladies already know how much I love Sakara - they make eating healthy SO much easier. I’m obsessed with their Metabolism Powder and this so great to ramp up your digestion, metabolism and to help the get ready for bikini time! It's awesome for de-bloating - I took it everyday while in Maui which made a huge difference! Use Code SAKARAxLUCY for 15% off!

  3. Exfoliate & Faux Tan - Nothing makes me feel bikini ready like a fresh tan! Lately, I’ve been using the Lux Unfiltered No32 Self-Tanning Cream which gives me such a bronzy glow! It’s not orange, is super hydrating, and doesn’t smell like typical self-tanners. I used it the entire time I was in Maui! Normally I use it every other day but to really get a deep tan I used it everyday prior and during my trip! I also like to exfoliate before applying to give my skin a smooth base.

  4. Limit the Booze - Alcohol is not only loaded with calories (which isn’t good when you’re trying to slim down) but it also tends to make you look puffy and bloated. Instead, I try to drink as much water throughout the day. Drink sparkling water with a squeeze of lime out of a wine glass and you’ll feel like you aren’t missing out… too much!

  5. Cute Activewear to Motivate - I find that dressing in athleisure or fitness stuff from the moment I get up, makes it so I'm more likely to fit in a workout, walk or good stretch. Plus, having a cute matching workout set helps motivate me to get moving! Here are some recent athleisure finds perfect for spring, and some fitness faves down below:
