The New Workwear with Express
Hey, ladies! Spring is in full swing around here which means wardrobe refreshing time! It can be tricky to shop spring and summer as a working woman because business casual brings to mind pantsuits and trousers. Totally NOT me! But I am so jazzed about what Express has to offer this season - their pieces are so versatile and wearable no matter what’s on your agenda!
The fabulous thing about Express is that they are seeking to go above and beyond in the fashion industry by living out their values. I absolutely love their celebration of Women’s Empowerment Month... they are exemplifying what it means to really put our best foot forward and give our all no matter what our passions are in life.
As a woman in a field that often feels highly competitive and overcrowded, I was so encouraged by their call for unity - ‘Women Together’ is what their new campaign is centered around and I think it’s perfect for the times we are living in. With that in mind, I want to recognize that, as women, we need to stick together, celebrate each other’s successes, give of our time with no expectations and be inclusive of every walk of life. Being the best version of ourselves doesn’t mean we need to tear each other down in the process. We ARE a village and strength comes from community. Most of the deep friendships and bonds i have with women have been born out of giving and supporting each other! I am so grateful for those bonds, without my women tribe it wouldn’t be possible to live this dream.
Whether you are a working woman, an entrepreneur, a stay-at-home momma or anything in between, the value we bring to this world as women is so much stronger when we stand together rather than always playing that comparison game! Trust me it’s hard not to do. It’s tough in the fashion world but I believe it’s doable, and Express is reminding us all of that truth.
Speaking of work...‘effortless’ is my middle name these days because my schedule has been so hectic juggling all my roles. Those more polished throw-on-and-go pieces are essential because (unfortunately) we can’t wear sweatpants and hoodies all the time. I was so amazed at how many amazing one-and-done pieces Express is bringing into the mix!!
If you’re like me and you love to elevate basics, look no further because they have both the basics and the fun, edgy pieces we love.
I am calling it right now - Expess’s casual-yet-structured vibe is the new workwear. They have so many good pieces that allow you to follow the rules of the office without sacrificing your personal style. Springtime in San Diego can still be a little breezy so I love the idea of pairing a skirt with layers (they have tons!). This green number has the best details - I love the double breasted look and the tie waist is so flattering on all kinds of figures. The length is perfect because it can be worn super high waisted for a more mini length, or wear it right at the hips and it’s totally work-appropriate. Talk about transitionable! It’s got that tomgirl look that I love. I went with a super basic but super flattering black tank and a boyfriends blazer in black is the new black, right (ha)?! You just can’t go wrong. To finish off the look, I went with a western boot vibe because let’s keep it unexpected and add some edge! Get the look with these insane pair! If your work is a little more laid back, you could also pair with a fun graphic tee or a simple crisp white tee would look awesome as well.
Express is for real, ladies - I am feeling excited about adding more work wear looks to the blog per your request! Just in case you’re not yet convinced, I have a treat for you guys! I’m giving you a Ring Code (8137) for $25 off $100, in-store and online! What a steal, right??! Enjoy and let me know what you pick up!
XO, Lucy
