How to Create the Perfect Holiday Party Look
The holidays are coming up fast, so if you haven’t started planning your Christmas and New Year’s Eve looks, I wanted to share a stylish outfit idea that works for any dress code. I always start with a good high and low mix because it’s the best way to look chic without spending a fortune. I’m a huge fan of Nordstrom because they have the best curated selection of designer and affordable brands. Their rewards program is also a major perk because you can earn free Nordstrom dollars to use towards future purchases whenever you make a purchase. I always save my notes for my next designer splurge. If your holiday calendar is filling up with party invites, read ahead for my tips on creating the perfect holiday party look this season.
1. Repurpose a summer piece into winter
My favorite summer piece to transition into a holiday party look is the slip dress. Luxe satin pieces look amazing year-round but feel especially appropriate for the festive season. You can easily layer that summer slip into winter nights with cozy layers, edgy boots, and luxe accessories. For this outfit, I threw a cardigan over my Cami NYC dress and cinched it at the waist with my Gucci belt for a holiday-ready look. I topped it off with some fun statement earrings for a festive vibe.
2. Add one investment piece
As you ladies know, I’m a huge fan of designer bags and shoes - they’re seriously the best way to pull a holiday party look together and make it look way more expensive. Everyone’s been loving Bottega Veneta, and I have to admit, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this clutch. I was stoked when I found out that Bottega Veneta launched at Nordstrom this month - I can now get my next Bottega fix even faster!
If you’re looking to add one investment piece to your holiday party outfits, now’s the best time to score a great deal. Nordstrom’s designer sale is happening now and you can save up to 60% off retail prices. My Chloe boots are a total steal, and I love that they’re so easy to dress up or down. Remember that with high-end items, you don’t have to buy only neutral colors. I love cool animal prints and textures that really pop in an outfit - like these snakeskin boots.
3. Mix different aesthetics
Just as I love mixing high and low, I love mixing different aesthetics - like wearing edgy boots with a feminine dress or pairing distressed jeans with sleek pumps. It always makes an outfit look more interesting and feel more effortless.
4. Top it off with a pretty pout and glowing skin
No holiday party look is complete without glowing skin and a pretty pout. Adding a swipe of your favorite shade of lipstick always makes for a more festive feel while glowing skin enhances your party look.
