Camo Love in Marissa Webb

Brunette Woman in Camo Sweater

Happy Friday night friends! I thought I’d give you some light reading for this Friday night and weekend! I have owed you guys a Q&A for some time and I recently put it out onto my instagram; you ladies had so many great questions for me! But before I get into those I want to quickly talk about this look because it may be my favorite thus far! Camo love is real love and my love for this camo knit from Marissa Webb is strong! I am so excited about the weather finally cooling off around here so I can finally comfortably style cozy knits.

Marissa Webb has managed to reinvent camo with this neutral toned palette and an updated design. The cut is easy and relaxed with a wider neck that you can drape off the shoulder like I’ve done or wear as a boatneck. It’s slightly cropped so it looks awesome with all your high rise denim!

Scroll down to read more and to for my Q&A!

I paired this cropped sweater with thee most comfortable Nili Lotan pants I have ever worn! The style is a little different with the drop crotch but I LOVE them and think you would too! I’ve seriously worn them a ton since I bought them. I loved these Nili Lotan pants so much I just ordered the army green version too!

This look is Friday night ready without trying too hard. Wait did I mention my sweater happens to be on SALE here until tomorrow?! Woot woot!

XO, Lucy

Q&A Get to Know Me Better!

Ok, back to the Q&A! I’m breaking them down into two or maybe three posts because there was quite a few questions and I also wanted to break it down into “about me” questions and then I’ll follow up with beauty/workout questions next week. Stay tuned for that! And ladies, it was so fun to read all your questions and even more fun answering them! I hope you guys like this, let me know and I’ll do these more often. Maybe a weekly or by weekly format?

  1. What city/state do you live in? I live in San Diego, California and have for over 10 years. I had dreams of living in NYC but I met my husband, started a family and we settled here.

  2. What’s your favorite season and why? Great question. Living in San Diego we don’t really have official seasons honestly, it’s basically just Spring and Summer all year long but for the sake of answering I LOVE Fall and Summer! I live for the heat and long nights of summer. I’m always cold so I love being able to walk around with out layers in the evenings and just the overall energy of summer. I also equally love Fall but more for the fashion. The transition into cooler weather lends itself to layers such great color palettes and more luxe fabrics like suede, cashmere and velvets!

  3. How did you meet your husband? This is a funny and long story but I’ll give you the cliff notes. We where introduced by a dear friend. He didn’t think twice about me and that gave me a challenge so I basically showed up everywhere he was for a month until I finally worked up to the courage to buy him two shots of tequila and ask him out! PS I HATE tequila but I guess I needed the courage! We talked until 4am about everything from religion to politics and both l knew we had to be together. The rest is history!

  4. Can you create a San Diego Guide? Sure! I’m planning on compiling a recap/guide from my recent trips to London and NYC and plan on doing the same for all future travel. I’ll be sure to include restaurants and anything fun to do.

  5. What’s your race? The human race. ;) But if you’re curious about my ethnicity I am half Colombian and half Honduran. I was born and raised in Barcelona, Spain and that is where my most of my family is.

  6. How old are you? HA! This question came up a LOT! How old do you think I am? ;)

  7. How do you edit your photo’s? What filter’s do you use? What Apps do you use? Another question that came up a ton and is so hard to give a simple answer to. But I’ll try; I use desktop Photoshop for ALL my photos. I remove most yellow tones from my pics in the Camera Raw filter section and I play around a lot with Luminosity also in Camera Raw to get my skin just how I like it. I also like to add quite a bit of contrast and some blue. I’ll be honest a BIG part of my pics is lighting and the camera/lens I use (see next question). I’ve learned what conditions I like to take my pics in; in the shade facing sunlight and in soft light, ideally that golden light around 4pm… until the time change! :( If you want my advice on this I would say skip Photoshop Desktop editing and use your phone with apps like Lightroom, Snapseed and VSCO because it will make your life so much easier, faster and in the moment!

  8. What kind of camera do you use? I have a Canon Mark iii and use mostly a 50mm 1.2 fixed lens and sometimes alternate with an 85mm 1.2 fixed lens. This is a big part of the look of my pics! These lenses really create a really clean but big blurred behind me effect. These have been the biggest investments I’ve made into my business but they have paid for themselves 1000 times! Hiring photographers get’s SO expensive and then you are also dealing with their timeline. I would suggest buying a used camera and lens from a reputable site like Keh Camera or Amazon. I bought my body from Amazon “technically” used but it had only been use 2-3 times so I got an awesome deal.

  9. How do you make your backgrounds monochromatic? See question 7 for a few tips on how I achieve that.

  10. What are the sunglasses you always wear? They are the Quay After Hours and they are my absolute favorites! I have them in every color and they are so affordable, under $60!

  11. Hey are you going to start a YouTube channel? Hmmm I don’t know, would you guys tune in? What would you want to see me capturing on that platform?

  12. Wondering about your new Fendi Bag? Can you do a review on it? I absolutely adore my new Fendi Kan! I have this tradition that I save up for a new investment bag for each Fashion Week so two times a year I splurge and don’t feel guilty about it at all. It’s an investment into my business sort of speak. Back to the bag, it is such a luxurious bag and I’m so glad I pulled the trigger after stalking it for months! It is really roomy and I can wear it so many ways from a top handle bag to a crossbody, love that. I also love that it has gold and silver hardware so I am able to wear it with everything. The only downfall is that I paid full price and I recently discovered eBay and their amazing selections of luxury bags! I found my exact bag almost 40% below retail! Wahhh! Their bags are authenticated before being listed and you get a money back guarantee too. So yeah wish I knew that before but will for sure go this route on my next investment.

  13. Biggest tip for a new mom? How did you change your style after having kids? Or did you? Take time to take care of your physical and mental health! I had the baby blues with my kids and didn’t even know it until things got a little dark. As a new mom we give SO much to our new babies and families that we put ourselves last. Your hormones are crazy so it’s important to still stay connected to friends and family. To still take time for yourself and whatever it is that makes you happy; a walk, going to a movie, get a facial, go out to dinner with your significant other… whatever jus take a little time fo you! || My style didn’t really change much. I’ve always been a jeans and tee girl at the core so I felt like it was easy to transition my style into motherhood. Clearly I couldn’t wear stilettos while carrying a diaper bag and a baby so I bought chic loafers, edgy sneakers, block heeled booties and saved the stilettos for date nights.

  14. What are your online shopping places that are easy to navigate? I do 95% of my shopping online and my go to is always Nordstrom because they have such a huge selection, an easy to navigate website and I can do same day curb side pick up! I use it a lot when I need to shoot something fresh and have nothing! I also love Revolve for all the on trend pieces and excellent shipping policy. Shopbop for emerging designers and denim and Elyse Walker for something special and edgy. I also shop ASOS for great affordable denim and lot and H&M for their knits every fall season. For shoes I discovered this site that lists all my favorite luxe shoes way below retail price! I have shopped a ton on my shoes from them and they are super legit! I’ve bought all my Gianvito Rossis and a couple of Christian Louboutins there to.
