Eat Well Travel Often
One of the many reasons why I am so lucky to live in southern California is that less then two hours away is beautiful Mexican wine country, Valle de Guadalupe. If you've followed my blog from the beginning you know this is a special place for me! When I first started blogging I did a 3 part post on the food, wine, and an amazing Eco Spa in Valle de Guadalupe, read those posts here, here and here.
Anyway, because Valle is so close we look for any excuse to go back! This time it was a dear friends birthday. We took a private shuttle from San Diego and back and let me tell you, that was genius since there was a lot of wine drinking! I'd highly recommend doing the same as the roads are tricky and if you are not familiar with the area you can easily get lost. Or worse, waste time and not get to enjoy all the beautiful destinations and wine! ;)
Our agenda was simple; eat well, celebrate with friends in beautiful places and of course drink great wine! We did just that! A pit stop at one of Anthony Bourdaine's "No Reservations" restaurant recommendations, La Guerrerense, wine tasting at Monte Xanic and Hotel Endemico, then finished off the day with a 5 course tasting menu at Deckman's En el Mogor, a Michelin star chef outdoor ranch style restaurant.
As usual Valle you did not disappoint! Every place we visited was gorgeous, hospitable and hard to leave.
Scroll down to see my photo diary of the trip. Feel free to comment and ask any questions you might have. I know it can seem complicated to cross the border and even have a bad wrap but I assure you, you'll love it!
Cheers and happy birthday Diana, Thanks for a special day!

Our group of friends area all foodies so made a quick detour to Ensenada to check out La Guerrerense which was featured on Anthony Bourdaine's No Reservations and praised as a "must go to" when in the area. Obviously we had to stop there and it was amazing!
The freshest seafood I've ever had! I'm about to chow down on a sea urchin and clam tostada. Epic!
With my better half at Deckman's En el Mogor. XO
Talk about dinner with a view...
All the gorgeous cuisine you see above/below was cooked over this open air kitchen! Incredible!
