The Knit Report
Knits are all the rage right now, but to be honest, they’re trending in a way that can look a little frumpy at times. With the right styling techniques though, you can totally rock today’s knits no problem. So, today I’m sharing what knit trends I’m loving right how and how exactly I like to style them to avoid the frumpy situation.
HALF ZIP COLLARS
I’m LOVING the half zip collar sweater trend right now! I think it’s such a great way to make an outfit look a bit more polished and sophisticated. Plus, anything that shows off the décolleté (in a tasteful way) is flattering and looks good on everyone! I love pairing my half zip sweaters with leather joggers and skinny jeans.
EDGY SHOULDERS + CUTOUTS
The edgy shoulder sweater trend is so unpredictable, but in a good way. I love that it makes a statement without being too in your face. And you know I love me some edge, so of course I also can’t get enough cutouts like this one, especially in knits! An edgy shoulder or cutout is honestly the best way to take an outfit from ordinary to head-turning chic!! Wear both these sweater trends with a messy tuck into extra high rise jeans or paperbag waist pants!
OVERSIZED + TURTLENECKS
When wearing anything oversized, it can be easy to look a little drab. That’s not to say I don’t totally love this trend though… because I do! I would just style it by tucking it in on the side (to show a little waistline) and definitely pair it with something tight-fitting on bottom. I even like an oversized knit or turtleneck paired with a miniskirt, some tights and combat or OTK boots (of course)!
SWEATER VESTS (WHEN MIXED WITH EDGE!)
Sweater vests are back ladies - but buyer beware! This is one of those trends that can look like you stole something from your grandpa’s closet. So when in doubt, (always, always, always) give it some edge! I like to style a sweater vest with a cool piece (like this cutout one), some leather leggings and combat boots. Mix the sweater vest with some rawness and you’ll avoid looking twice your age!
