How to Wear Black in the Summer

You can find me wearing black all year long… yes, even in the summer! Contrary to popular belief, black is suitable for all seasons, not just the fall and winter! It’s just a classic color that looks good on everyone - so flattering and timeless! You girls have asked me how I style it for those warmer months, so I’m sharing how I wear black in the summer - along with some styling tips (of course)!

Little black dress - Probably the easiest and most predictable way to wear black in the summer is with an LBD. Not only is a little black dress a wardrobe essential, but it’s something you can throw on in a pinch if you have a special event or need something for a night out. I shared a bunch of affordable black dresses in this post which would be perfect for such occasions.

You can also dress an LBD down by throwing an oversized button-down over the top and pairing it with some slides - super versatile which you girls know I love!

Tank and jeans - I have so many black tanks in my closet that it’s not even funny! I wear them underneath jackets and blazers, and on their own. My favorite way to wear them in the summer is by pairing them with some oversized straight jeans and some heels. You could opt for a cropped one like this and wear it with something high waisted, or a strappy one like this!

Matching set - You’ve heard me confess my love for matching sets time and time again, and black is no exception! If you want to wear an all-black outfit, a matching set is the way to go. So, whether it’s a pair of trousers and a vest, a skirt and crop top, or even activewear, a matching set looks much more polished - not to mention, it takes all the guesswork out of it.

Button-down shirt - If you’re wondering how you can sport your favorite black button-down in the summertime, pair it with a lace bralette underneath and some denim shorts. I think this is such an effortless and cool girl way to style a button-down! Pro tip - fold up the sleeves and tuck in the front of your shirt, you could even let the bralette peek out by unbuttoning a few top buttons.
