How to Style the Color Trend

TREND ALERT: all things color! While I’m normally more of a neutrals gal, I can’t resist a bright pop of color! I’m actually loving the neon and bright color trend right now and think it’s so fun for summer. Neutrals certainly had their time in the spotlight so I’m excited to introduce some new shades into the mix. I know hot pink, neon yellow, and Kelly green can seem a bit much, so I’m here sharing all my secrets for making the color trend work.

STYLE TIP 1: Stick with one color. The easiest way to style the color trend is to stick with one color and build your outfit around that piece. Colors can have so many different undertones making it hard to match, so don’t over-complicate things and make that one bright color the statement piece.

STYLE TIP 2: Pair with neutrals. Once you have your statement piece, pair it with neutral colors like white, black, tan and even denim. You don’t want to look like a walking disco ball so neutrals will be your best friend when styling a bright color.

STYLE TIP 3: Stay within the same tone. If you want to spice things up by throwing in another color, then stick with the same tone. For instance, if you’re wearing Kelly green, try pairing it with a neon green too. Or, stick with cool or warm tones throughout for more uniformity.

STYLE TIP 4: Accessories, accessories, accessories! If you’re not ready to invest in a hot pink blazer, then go for an accessory! I got this green Bottega bag last year and was a little worried I’d have a hard time finding things to wear it with and boy was I wrong! I’ve worn it so many times and absolutely love it! I’ll make it the statement piece by pairing it with an all neutral outfit. It’s a fun and easy way to experiment with color. Plus, accessories tend to be less of an investment if you decide a certain color isn’t for you.

STYLE TIP 5: Match your accessories. Another great way to incorporate color into your wardrobe is by matching your accessories. You can pair some bright colored sandals with the same colored handbag or hat. Don’t worry about matching them perfectly, just make sure they’re similar in tone.

STYLE TIP 5: Have fun! At the end of the day, fashion is supposed to be fun so just go for it! Whether it’s neon yellow, bright orange or hot pink, do you and don’t take yourself too seriously. If it makes you feel good, then that’s all that matters so be bold and rock that color girls!
