An Insider's Guide to the 2023 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

Okay ladies, it’s that time of year again… The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is almost here! I’ve been shopping this sale for years now so I’ve got it down to a science. It’s the biggest annual sale that Nordstrom has which is known for huge savings on new fall fashion, beauty, home, and more! Unlike other sales throughout the year that discount end-of-season items, the Anniversary Sale offers sale prices on new fall merchandise, as well as other items. So, if you’re planning on shopping the sale, I’m spilling all my secrets for making the most of the sale.

HOW TO PREP

1. TAKE INVENTORY

I don’t like to buy things just to buy them. I find that investing in good quality basics, sprinkled in with a few trend pieces is the best way to maximize your closet. So, each year I like to take inventory of my fall wardrobe so I can snag whatever it is that I’m missing or wanting. I’ll usually invest in a new sweater, a couple pairs of boots, an outerwear piece and a pair of jeans that I can wear all season long. Again, I’ll only buy something if I love it and know I’ll wear it year after year, rather than buying something just because it’s on sale.

2. APPLY FOR EARLY ACCESS

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this sale is notorious for selling out. When I say things go fast, I mean they go FAST! Things will often sell out on the first day which is why having early access is a huge bonus. To gain early access, you can apply for a Nordstrom credit card. Right now, you’ll even get a $40 bonus note for use on a future purchase when you sign up.

3. PREVIEW THE CATALOG

Starting July 3, you’ll be able to preview everything that will be on sale. I highly recommend browsing the catalog and saving the items you want to your Nordy’s wishlist before you plan to shop. While I love going into the store to try things on and see the quality for myself, I personally think the best way to shop is online. I find the selection to be better with more sizing and availability. Nordstrom offers free shipping and free returns, so when in doubt, just know that you can always return something if it doesn’t work out. Another thing to not is that after the sale is over, everything will go back to full price, so if you really have your heart set on something, I suggest getting it while it’s on sale.

I know Christmas seems far off, but it’s a great time to stock up and save while you’re at it. I especially love checking out the beauty sets. Not only do they make great gifts, but they’re a really great deal as well. Trust me, you’ll be thanking yourself come December!
