3 Ways to Style A Swimsuit

3 Ways to Style a Swimsuit by Lucys whims.jpg

Swimsuit season is in full force here in San Diego but let’s be honest, when is it not? We get A LOT of wear out of our suits here in So Cal so I’ve had tons of experience styling suits. Obviously you can throw on a cover-up and call it a day but I like to switch things up. If you want more options for your next beach trip or low-key 4th of July party, here are a few…

Oh and as for this amazing suit I’m wearing, it was created by my girl Ashley from @everydaypursuits. Unfortunately for you guys it’s sold out (yei Ashley!) but you know I found you similar options:

LOOK 1: WIDE LEGS PANTS + TIED UP BLOUSE

Let’s start off with what I consider the chicest of the three looks. This more ‘covered up’ option would be perfect for grabbing a drink after the beach or dinner on vacay (whenever that resumes…). I’ve been #obsessed with the wide leg trend and I love styling a light, even linen pair, over a suit. Then on top, you can tie up any blouse to show as much or little skin as you want. Since my pants are high-waisted (which I suggest if there will be margs and guac flowing ha!), I tied a thick knot to make the top fit higher up. Super easy to do and you look chic within a second. Finish this look off with big sunglasses and a hat and you’re good.

LOOK 2: DENIM SHORTS + CARDIGAN

This is what you’ll find me in most often. It’s very casual and very San Diego. You guys know how I feel about these denim cut-offs and I still reach for them weekly. If I want something other than shorts on, like if I’m heading in public on my way to the water, I’ll bring a lightweight yet chunky cardigan like this one. You could even button up the bottom few buttons and have it fall off your shoulders for more coverage. I like this option for evening bonfires or when I might need something warmer once the sun goes down.

LOOK 3: TUNIC

This is my resort look or what I’m wearing if I don’t need to go in public on the way to a friend’s pool or whatever. I live for a good tunic and have way more than I’d like to admit but they’re timeless and can be worn season after season. Or at least that’s what I tell my husband! White and black tunics are my thing because they really are classic and can go with any suit - even a leopard one. Toss it on over your suit, keep a few buttons buttoned if you want, or wear it like a dress belted! Layer yourself in jewelry to elevate the vibe a bit.

What’s your favorite look? XO, Lucy
