What I Packed for Spain

Hey ladies! I got a lot of questions for what I packed for this monthlong trip to Spain without lugging 18 suitcases with us! I had to be really strategic because I wasn’t just packing for myself but also 3 other people and I wanted to stay married! My husband hates dealing with luggage so I wanted to be smart and hello marital bliss ha! Our Itinerary was packed with a lot of different locations and activities. On the agenda we had a family wedding and ton of formal events around it, a week in San Sebastian with lots of touristing and fine dining and finally island beach life time in Formentera.

My strategy for packing you might notice was to start with choosing a color palette so that I could mix and match and make countless outfits. I went with black, white, brown tones and of course denim. Layering in a few pops of red here and there.

Finally, I also included my beauty routine because it did change a bit for the heat and humid climate.

Hope this all helps get you summer travel ready! Where are you guys headed off to this summer?

XO, Lucy

LIGHT JACKETS FOR LAYERING

Summer in Spain is dry hot, but the evenings are cooler, so I don’t bring too many jackets. However, at least one blazer is essential because there is power in a perfectly fitting piece! Brining a blazer literally saved me in San Sebastian because I did ‘t realize how cold it was going to be in this northern city! I ended up wearing it over everything as a jacket! Layered over my sundresses and paired causally with denim. I also packed a my army jacket. During the day i wrapped it around my waist with shorts and tanks and would just easily throw it on when the evening got chilly. If you don’t have an army jacket I’d suggest a light jean jacket because it literally goes with everything! Lastly, I packed my white leather moto instead of my normal black to keep it summer and for cocktail events and a a couple of nights that we went bar hopping with the cousins! I also wore it on the plane.

EASY BASICS

When traveling, I always opt for on-trend, effortless basics that are easy to mix and match together. That usually includes tons of lace camis, tees, and bodysuits that can be paired with denim or dressed up with skirts. This is really key for me since it helps to minimize luggage space.

DENIM

I practically live in denim so you bet I’ll bring a few pairs to rotate through. I’ve been obsessed with high-waisted styles that are looser around the thigh and bum areas. They’re perfect for off-duty style and look great with heels or flats. Denim cutoffs will also be essential for lazy days on the beach and when it comes to shorts i like to opt for a more loose effortless style. I brought these and these and I went up a size to make sure they fit was easy to transition from day to night. In my opinion shorts that are too tight just come across too sexy for a dressed up vibe or night time. Gotta keep it classy ladies! :)

SUMMER DRESSES

There’s nothing as easy as a summer dress from day to night. I per usual gravitate towards neutral and black but I did throw in some colot too!

SWIMWEAR AND COVER UPS

I’m really having a moment with high waist swim bottoms right now, feels like a retro understated sexy vibe! I’ve also worn these cover up wrap pants almost every day in Formentera! Buying them in more colors for summer. They would also be so cute worn with a bodysuit for evening resort style.

COMFY SHOES

Anytime I’m traveling, I want to explore as much as possible, which calls for comfy shoes. I’m a fan of espadrilles and slides because they’re so simple yet chic - and don’t take up a ton of space either. I also jumped on the dad sneaker trend and LOVE! I wore these a ton to explore San Sebastian with jeans and denim minis! I even dressed them up for a date night in San Sebastian! And because i spaced bringing a simple sandal I picked these up while in Zaragoza and LOVED! They have the elegant look of the Hermes sandals everyone is wearing but priced just right! They are SO comfortable I wore them every day back and forth to the beach.

PARTY SHOES

Simple, classy heels are also essential for special occasions and dressier dinners that come up. Whenever I’m traveling, I’ll go for the most versatile option, which is usually a black ankle strap heel or a pair of nude pumps. You really can’t go wrong with either of those.

THE ACCESSORIES

A super easy and fun way to put the finishing touches on any outfit is through accented accessories. My favorites pieces for vacation outside of shoes/handbags are sunnies, belts and scarves!

Belts are one accessory that gets overlooked but trust me it will completely change your outfits and give them new life! I never travel without these 3 types of belts!

  1. Wide High Waist Belt: This is such a go to for me and you’ve seen me style this type of belt timeless times. Cinched over a blazer, over a dress or over an oversized white shirt (so effortless). Love this one and this one is really similar to mine.

  2. Western Belt: I love this style of belt with jeans or shorts and an easy tee! perfectly elevated!

  3. Statement Logo Belt: This is your bold belt that is perfect for cocktail or evening events. If you want to splurge you can go for the classic Gucci belt. For a better price I loved this bold red belt, gives the looks of Gucci without the price tag. And I loved the bold color for a pop!

COCKTAIL HOUR

As I mentioned we had a family wedding so there was a lot of cocktail events surrounding it. I like to keep things sleek and sphosticated for cocktail events and always gravitate for black no matter what the occasion. Case and point my above look that I wore to my cousins wedding! For the rehearsal dinner I wore this jumpsuit and layered this jacket over it. I wasn’t able to get a pic but will photograph soon back home! PS this jumpsuit is life and such a great price and DOESN’T wrinkle!

SUMMER BEAUTY ESSENTIALS

I’ve been a skincare fanatic lately especially since I was breaking out earlier this year. On a daily basis, I never go without sunscreen, moisturizer, and of course bronzer. And when I’m traveling, especially for longer periods, I always pack an exfoliator and face mask to make sure I don’t fall off the wagon of my routine. I love my Dr.Gross Exfoliator satchels because they are so easy to pack! If you’re curious about the at home skincare routine, check it out here.
