I was recently asked to do another wardrobe essentials post and I thought it would be perfect to do one focusing on Fall/Winter closet essentials. Basically creating a Fall Capsule Wardrobe that includes all the top trends and pieces you’ll need to create countless looks for the season! In my look tonight I am styling three major trends right now, can you spot them? Ok, I’ll tell you! Leopard, Cutout Sweaters and Western Wear!

These trends have transitioned from Spring/Fall and show no signs of slowing down. About this outfit specifically, a leopard midi skirt is a MUST have! I styled it with Thanksgiving dinner in mind but you could easily throw on a sweatshirt or sweater to dress it down. And do you ladies remember this insanely good cutout sweater from my Instastories? Well now it also come in this burgundy! Already in my cart.

Ok let me know what you guys think about this Fall Guide and make sure to also use it to add to your wishlist for Black Friday Sales!

Cheers, Lucy

COATS

Believe it or not, I used to live in Alaska so I know how important it is to stay warm but how challenging it can be to NOT look frumpy! I have rounded up the chicest coats so that you look as chic covered up as you do when warm indoors. Style Tip: Make sure your coat proportions/length are appropriate for your body! I aim for all my coats to hit me either mid thigh or right below the knee. Otherwise they just swallow you up and add weight to your figure.

LEOPARD

I don’t know about you but I cannot get enough leopard in my closet for fall! To say I’m obsessed is an understatement! Leopard just adds chicness and so much interest to your looks!

Style Tip: Treat leopard like a neutral because it literally goes with everything!!!

VELVET

Velvet is so luxurious for this time of year and it now comes in so many luxe pieces. Dresses, blazers, skirts bombers. Velvet used to be reserved for only nightime but now it easily styles during the day by just keeping things more casual pairing with sneakers, boots or leather jackets.

TUXEDO BLAZER

It’s the holidays and you need to step it up with a tuxedo blazer! I love these elevated styles dressed up or down and they are just the perfect piece for those cocktail events that you don’t have an ideal coat to top off your look when you happen to get cold I like i do, throw on the tuxedo blazer! I just bought this one and I’m obsessed with the navy twist. So updated!

PLAID BLAZER

The plaid blazer is not going anywhere for fall! If you’ve already picked this must have staple then for the cooler months try layering with a chic fitted turtleneck like the one I’m wearing. Or layer a hoodie sweatshirt and a maxi skirt if you feel more edgy. I also love a plaid blazer belted with a wide belt, so chic and would be perfect over one of your summer maxi dresses for an evening out.

SWEATER DRESS

The perfect switch for fall from your summer dresses and maxis is the sweater dress. It’s an effortless wear anywhere look. Style with OTK boots and layer a moto jacket and you’re good to go! I like to stick to grey or black so that I can wear earth tones and my blacks/greys too.

SWEATER WEATHER

This one is kind of a no brainer but I think it’s great to invest in some hi and low price point knits. Your high will be the one’s you’ll have for a lifetime and will be SO special. This is where I invest in brands like Ganni, Acne Studios and A.L.C; these are forever knits that will look amazing season after season. I usually invest in 1-2 every year and then stock up on lower price point knits as my basic knits in core wardrobe colors. For these high street I usually stock up from MANGO (newest obsession) and H&M, you can’t beat their prices. I pick up V neck sweaters in greys, camels and rich seasonal colors that are on trend in the moment. Another must have knit is a fitted wear with everything turtleneck like the one I’m wearing in this look! So perfect and the cutout detail makes it special. This turtleneck looks chic with jeans as well as with midi skirts for chic holiday parties. LOVE!

TREND BOOTS

There are so many great boot trends right now that it was hard to narrow this category down. I think the best to do is for you to decide which trend you feel most comfortable with or if you’re like me buy all 3 trends! :) The western boot is hot right now and looks great with everything but I get it, it’s not for everyone. Cone heeled boots are such a hip boot trend and really updates the block heel. OTK boots are a no brainer necessary for your closet BUT how about a thigh high boot? These look so good with skirts or skinny jeans! So modern and sleek. The last boot trend that I am loving is the biker buckle boot. These look great with feminine skirts and with jeans. These are perfect for being practical, these can easily be worn in everyday life.

ARMY JACKET

An army jacket is such a great neutral jacket that looks perfect over just about anything! Seriously, try throwing one over a slip dress. Instant cool girl! Over your sweaters or tees. Wrapped around your waist over floral dresses. Toss it over your mini skirts with boots. For real, the surplus army jacket will be one piece you reach for over and over.
