Trend: Embroiderery & Flares

I'm back, hope you missed me!!!! :) Serg and I snuck away to Holbox, Mexico; an amazing secluded island in the Yucatan Caribbean. It was his sisters' birthday and she was kind enough to host a group of us for a long weekend of fun! AMAZING!

Now I am back to reality and ready to give you some favorite city looks, starting with this one! A major trend on the runways and for the winter/fall season is embroidery. It is everywhere and being used in the most unexpected ways from evening dresses, denim appliques, to bomber jackets like the one I'm wearing here to name a few. I love this trend so much, it gives so much richness and interest to an outfit don't you agree? Here I took a pretty basic fall outfit; McGuire flares and an oversized Tee and turned it up a notch by layering this embroidered bomber jacket from Dezzal over it. The jacket is a shrunken fit so I also played up the oversized proportions with the oversized tee and flares!

I finished the look by mixing in white accessories like white laser cut pumps and my new favorite Camila Roma shoulder bag that I haven't stopped wearing since it arrived! Seriously, I had steered away from white bags for fear that I would destroy them or that I'd feel limited to only wearing it in summer months but rules are meant to be broken! This baby is going to be worn year around!

Lucy's Style Tip; I recently posted these same flare jeans and you guys had a lot of questions about what shoes to wear with flares. The trick with flares is you need to ground the look and continue the lengthening effect. Go with a pointed stilleto like I have here, a platform, wedge style or a stacked heel. You have to wear flares with with some height, stay away from flats or super rounded toed shoes because it will just dwarf you and shift the volume to the hips and waist! Nobody wants that!
